Social Media should be considered as part of the marketing strategy. I hear this often. While social media outlets may be free to use, they are not free. There is sweat equity needed to keep them current, to keep them relevant. Yeah, I know, we are one to talk. Well we are. We know that time has to be put into keeping content relevant for our readership, client, etc. yet we fell down on the job ourselves.
Reading this post from Tim Berry, in Planning Startups Stories titled: Social Media is Littered with Business Carcasses we received a much needed kick-in-the-pants. Thanks for hanging in there with us. |

As a follower of this blog you know that I am always searching for ways to improve my productivity and tools that help me get there.
Recently, I happened upon Opus Domini a productivity tool in the Mac App store. I was intrigued by the product tagline, "Leather bound planner goes digital". I should probably tell you that I started using a paper planner when I was a teenager and continued as a working professional and now I am eagerly on the hunt for a paperless solution. Given that, you see why I was taken with the tagline.

Have you changed the world today? Probably not. I know I haven't. Whether an Apple product owner or not, you and I would be hard pressed to find someone who has not at least heard the name Steve Jobs. Throughout his career Mr. Jobs had changed not only the tech world but the world at large. His vision and drive led to products that proved to the average person that technology didn't have to be scary and anyone could use it.

For awhile, we’ve been talking/writing about QR Codes. Specifically, about adding them to your marketing campaigns. If you use MailChimp, they have made it easy for you. After scheduling your campaign, a QR Code is automatically generated and available for download. We have first hand experience with MailChimp but other tools such as ConstantContact and iContact have QR Code functionality as well.
Check it out, test it out and use it in your next campaign.
Here’s one from our Thanksgiving wishes, grab your smartphone and using your camera, see how it works.

In 2010, American Express Open launched Small Business Saturday (SBS), a campaign to encourage the patronage of small businesses. SBS is the Saturday between Black Friday and Cyber Monday, this year is falls on November 26th. The campaign was so successful last year, seeing a reported rise of 28% of sales on the same day in 2009, that this year some well known companies are sponsors. FedEx, Google and Facebook® to name a few.
Participating in SBS does not require the small business to use or accept American Express.
To get you started there is a toolkit available for in-store signage, online ads, coupon-less offers, and email template to spread the word to your customers - old and new.

I didn't realize it until today sitting down at my computer how unorganized I'd become. Let me explain. I read constantly looking for ideas, inspiration. I've tried a few different ways to organize my reading.
